Obituary

Mary Jones Bramlett, an upright woman in the eyesight of the Lord, was born January 30, 1953, to the proud parents of Ray Booker Jones, Sr., and Almer Jones Hampton in Tallahatchie County, Mississippi.

THE WOMAN

Ann, as she was affectionately called, lived a sanctified and fulfilling life. Ann loved the Lord, and she was not ashamed of anyone to know that she was on the Lord’s side. Knowing Jesus was her kingdom’s identity. She was a beacon of light for the seventy-three years that God allowed her to grace this earth. Ann left an indelible mark on every person’s life who encountered her on a day-to-day basis. Their lives will never be the same because of Ann’s extraordinary impact. Ann married the love of her life, Charlie Bramlett, Jr., in 1976, and they were married forty-four blissful years at the time of his death on March 13, 2020. Charlie and Ann were an inseparable married couple whose love and devotion to one another served as a beautiful example to all who knew them. Through their unwavering commitment to each other, they demonstrated the sanctity and sacredness of marriage, an example that married couples today can still learn from and cherish.

Additionally, Ann was a long-time member of St. John M.B. Church (Charleston, MS), where she served faithfully. She was the Sunday Superintendent and a Sunday School teacher. She served steadfastly in both capacities. Later in her life, she was led under the unction of the Holy Ghost to join St. John M. B. Church (Drew, MS), with her late husband Charlie. At this new ministry where she served faithfully until her health failed, she served where the need was dire. She loved making sure that the tabernacle of God was always presentable. Ann was ministry-minded and ministry-centered. Because of her untiring services to the work of the Lord, the members will always remember her as “Mother Bramlett.” Ann was employed at Rockwell for over thirty years in Grenada, Mississippi, and she was employed at the Glove Factory for over ten years in Charleston, Mississippi.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Ray Booker Jones, Sr., and Almer Capler Hampton; her husband, Charlie Bramlett, Jr.; one sister Nellie Gray Wilson; three brothers, Ray Booker Jones, Jr., Jeremiah (Margaret) Jones, and Ricky Lewis Jones.
